Alex Tomesch, MD

Sports Medicine Fellow

Where are you from?

I was born in Indiana, but spent most of my life growing up in Iowa.

Why did you choose UA Sports Medicine?

I am really excited about the opportunities that were available here. I also had a really great experience when I was here for my interview and knew that this would be a great place to train with great faculty mentors. Getting away from the snow for a little bit sounded nice too!

What are you most excited about for life in Tucson?

I am looking forward to checking out some of the hiking trails around Tucson once it gets a little cooler.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of Medicine?

I enjoy spending time with my family which includes my wife and two boys. Our boys are enough to keep us busy, but I also enjoy bicycling, golfing, grilling, drinking craft beer, and of course watching sports!

What are your professional interests within Medicine?

I am really interested in using ultrasound. I think that it is a great tool to be able to use and I am intrigued to see all of the applications in the future.

Favorite way to spend a day off?

Having a lazy day at home with my family

Top item on your "Bucket list"?

I would like to summit a large mountain at some point (maybe Kilimanjaro?)

Another pretty high up goal is to attend a baseball game in all of the major league stadiums (I'm at 7 currently)
