Anthony McCoy, MD

Where are you from? 

I have lived in Tucson since 200, doing all my education through the U of A. I’m originally from Lyon, France.     

Why did you choose UA Sports Medicine?    

I am a Wildcat for life and have had a great experience at this institution. This program provided the best possible SM education while giving me many opportunities to work with high level collegiate athletes in different sports. I was very pleased with the idea that the program favored strong foundational residency training to which SM fellowship could be built upon. 

What are you most excited about for life in Tucson?  

I’m incredibly glad to stay home where my family and friends are. This is the community I wish to serve in and I’m proud to finish my training in Tucson.  

What are your interests or hobbies outside of Medicine?   

I am a fan of multiple sports that I follow very closely. I watch a lot of movies and TV shows as I used to critique them as an amateur hobby. I play video games, DnD, Fantasy Football, and enjoy the gym regularly. Most importantly I love spending time with my 2 beautiful kids and watching them grow. 

What are your professional interests within Medicine?    

I would like to be involved in education and mentorship as I believe that I wouldn’t have the privilege of being where I am without it and would love to give back. Teaching and practicing medicine are my career goals and I would love to do so in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. 

Favorite way to spend a day off?    

Sitting on the couch with my wife and kids watching something fun on the TV surrounded by snacks. Alternatively, a day in the park with them, bring some toys, balls, bikes, to play outside with.
